Motivational speaker Peter Kageyama makes a living out of helping people use their civic passions to elevate their towns, cities, or neighborhoods in a variety of beneficial ways.

Kageyama, author of For the Love of Cities, believes things thrive when they are loved—including the places people live. He tours the country, visiting municipalities and holding workshops aimed at getting residents motivated. His message is timely for cities recovering from our country's recent recession.

"I'm trying to get people to realize that these things that emotionally engage us with our place, they don't cost a whole lot of money, but they do require us to think about the problem in a different way," Kageyama said.

Kageyama will be speaking in San Luis Obispo on March, 4, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
