California kiwifruit growers are seeing higher prices for their product this year than they’ve seen in the past couple of harvests, when the crop yeilds were larger than normal. The year's yield appears to be about average at 7.2 million trays of kiwifruit, 2 million less than last year.

The wine customers affectionately refer to as "Two Buck Chuck" may need a new name, now that Trader Joe's is raising the per-bottle price to $2.49.

Santa Monica based Veggie Grill plans to open several new California locations during the first half of 2013 in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. The chain will also expand its current footprint in Seattle.
